A couple months ago a leading cybersecurity firm based in the US Mountain region ran into a problem while consulting to one of their Hyper-V customers on highly secure backup software options. If you’re in tech today, you already see one of the nuances of this story. Microsoft’s Hyper-V is still a minority player in the Hypervisor space. They’ve grown market share from 20% in 2008 to over 27% as of mid-2021 but most disaster recovery options built for Hyper-V still aren’t as feature rich as options built for VMWare, the hypervisor behemoth at 57% of market share. This customer also needed official compliance reports on the DRaaS solution itself (not just the data centers) for SOC2 Type 2. The cybersecurity firm pulled in some help from the Gartner Magic Quadrant leader in Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions. Veeam pointed them to Virtual Systems as a nationwide leader in deploying those complex solutions. Virtual Systems worked with both teams for months to help meet all necessary BDR and compliance goals and, in the end we deployed a solution that worked for all parties. It went so well that the cybersecurity firm brought over 20 additional customers to Virtual Systems to collaborate on their disaster recovery needs.
