October 26th, 2021

This Quickstart Disaster Recovery Guide tells you what you need to know about the setup of Virtual Systems DRaaS with Veeam.

If you haven’t yet signed up to receive this service, visit https://vsystems.com/contact/ for more information and request a quote. Note: To use the service, the Veeam version you are using should be compatible with your virtual environment. See our compatibility matrix for more information.

6 Steps to Deploying Your DRaaS Solution

This Quickstart Disaster Recovery Guide will walk you through the six steps necessary to deploy your service.

Step 1: Technical Verification

New DRaaS customers receive a confirmation email from Virtual Systems, and then a Virtual Systems project manager will contact you. Your project managers will confirm details about your disaster recovery environment, which is typically based on your production network. Your project manager will request subnet information necessary to set up your DRaaS environment.

Step 2: Virtual Systems Deploys Your DRaaS Cloud Environment

Next, the Virtual Systems team will deploy the Veeam Tenant. Your project manager will provide you with credentials to connect the designated technical contact to your Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) Console. Then, follow the remaining steps to set up replication of your DRaaS environment.

Your protected VMs will fail over to Virtual Systems infrastructure, and your project manager will provide you with credentials to access failed over VMs.

Step 3: Connect to the Virtual Systems Cloud DRaaS Provider

Use the tenant credentials and domain name to connect to the Virtual Systems Cloud DRaaS Provider. For more information, see our knowledge base article, Connecting to Virtual Systems, Your DRaaS Provider. If you need more assistance, contact your Virtual Systems project manager or our support team.

Step 4: Create Replica Jobs

The next step is setting up a replication job. For more information, see our knowledge base article How to Create a Replication Job.

Step 5: Create a Failover Plan

Once you have successfully completed a replication job, you can create a failover plan. More information is available here.

Step 6: Onboarding

Your Virtual Systems project manager will contact you to coordinate onboarding, which will provide you with all of the information you need to use your DRaaS solution. This step will include triggering a test and interacting with VMs.

In addition to the tips and information in this Quickstart Disaster Recovery Guide, more information that can help with onboarding is included in these articles:
