The Veeam Backup & Replication v12 Features We’re Most Excited About for Our Clients

March 27th, 2023

One thing we’re most proud of is the partnerships we’ve formed, allowing us to provide the best service to our customers. Our partners continually innovate to optimize their products and processes and address new challenges. An outstanding example is the release of Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) v12 in January 2023. It includes a range of updates and new features that give businesses more control over their data protection and make it easier.

Here are a few of the Veeam v12 features that we can’t wait to introduce to our clients and prospects and how Virtual Systems is using them to enhance the services we offer.

1. Direct-to-Object Storage with Veeam Cloud Connect

Veeam research has found that 85 percent of companies have experienced at least one ransomware attack in 2022. Actors can deploy ransomware via various attack vectors, making it difficult to defend against this type of cyberthreat with 100 percent effectiveness. But companies can ensure they can recover quickly.

We recommend that our clients follow Veeam’s 3-2-1 Rule: Keep three copies of data on at least two different types of media with one copy offsite. Furthermore, Veeam has amended the rule to recommend an immutable copy of data, with zero errors, or the 3-2-1-1-0 rule. Direct-to-object storage gives companies a way to store immutable backups on object storage as additional protection from ransomware.

Virtual Systems’ Services

Virtual Systems offers the ability to do direct-to-object storage for your performance backups as part of our service offerings. Direct-to-object storage allows us to use object lock to create immutable backups. And for companies with robust multi-site architecture, direct-to-object storage enables us to create an immutable copy of their data at affordable prices.

2. Continuous Data Protection for Veeam Cloud Connect

Veeam added continuous data protection (CDP) for customers using VBR onsite with its v11 release. Now, with v12, it’s available to Veeam Cloud Service Providers, like Virtual Systems.

CDP makes it possible for businesses to meet the shortest recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs), even those that are less than one minute. It solves the problem of how companies that can’t be down for typical RTOs of 15-30 minutes can protect their mission-critical data.

Virtual Systems’ Services

CDP requires VMware Vcloud for end users, which Virtual Systems can help you implement. We are also using CDP to bolster businesses’ disaster recovery architecture, and we’re ready to help companies revise their strategies to use it most effectively.

3. Veeam Service Provider Console v7

Veeam released Veeam Service Provider Console v7 along with VBR v12. It gives service providers new self-service capabilities that will help accomplish tasks faster and provide more control over the data they manage.

With the console, we give you a portal that you can use to see the data necessary to manage your clients’ cloud backup environment, including backup data, reports, licensing, billing, and automation.

You also have remote management, self-service customer onboarding of M365 or other SaaS solutions, one-click patch deployment, and multi-tenancy so you can scale service delivery.

Virtual Systems’ Services

If you are a Virtual Systems customer on the Veeam Service Provider Console v6, you’ll receive upgrades that will help you simplify the process of managing your clients in our infrastructure and reporting on key metrics.

4. Veeam Data Platform

Veeam Backup & Replication v12 is a part of the Veeam Data Platform that has three primary components. VBR, Veeam ONE v 12 and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator. The platform enables proactive monitoring and analytics with Veeam ONE, secure backup and fast recovery with VBR, and proven recovery orchestration, including automated testing and documentation. In other words, you have recovery that you can count on. The platform gives you the tools you need to test more often, recovery faster, and prove your compliance with standards and regulations.

In addition, native APIs allow the platform to work wherever your applications and data reside – in the cloud, on-premises, or virtual infrastructure – and also allow you to back up and recover data from Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.

Virtual Systems’ Services

As a Veeam Platinum Cloud Service Provider with competencies in Backup as a Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), and M365 Backup, Virtual Systems can scope and deliver the entire Veeam Data Platform.

Give Your Business the Advantages of New Veeam v12 Features

IT environments are growing more complex, extending from on-premises to the cloud and from cloud to cloud, and cyberattack sophistication and frequency are increasing. It’s growing more difficult to manage backups and recovery with manual processes. Virtual Systems’ services, including Veeam Backup & Replication v12 as a part of the Veeam Data Platform can help you overcome those challenges.

Don’t live with processes that are harder than they have to be. Contact us to see how to manage backups and ensure effective data recovery easily and effectively.
